On March 15, InspireChange International hosted "Speak to Create," a World Speech Day webinar uniting young people and emerging leaders to explore purposeful communication. It tackled youth hesitation, encouraging confidence, strategy, and the belief that every voice truly matters.
On March 15, InspireChange International joined the global celebration of World Speech Day by hosting a virtual webinar titled “Speak to Create: Understanding the Power of Your Voice.”
The session brought together young people from different backgrounds and countries, emerging leaders, and aspiring changemakers to reflect on a simple but powerful idea: our voices matter.
At a time when many young people have ideas but often hesitate to speak up, the webinar created a space to explore what it truly means to use one's voice with purpose, confidence, and strategy.
The conversation moved beyond traditional public speaking tips. Instead, it focused on how communication can shape ideas, influence communities, and contribute to meaningful social change.
Opening the conversation, Ms. Geraldine Afua Amaning addressed the difference between simply speaking and communicating with purpose and strategy. She emphasized that communication becomes powerful when it is intentional and strategic. “Speaking is easy, but speaking strategically creates change," she said.
Her session explored how understanding one's audience, framing messages clearly, and choosing the right platforms can transform ideas into influence. Participants learned that communication is not only about expression but also about connection and impact.
Another key theme explored was Finding Your Voice: From Silence to Significance by Ms. Isabella Tetteh Ahinakwa, which challenged participants to reflect on the cost of silence. “Silence hides creativity, dreams, and impact," she stated. She explained that many young people hold back not because they lack ideas, but because they fear judgment, rejection, or being misunderstood. Yet some of the most important ideas in society begin quietly, with individuals who dare to speak despite uncertainty.
Participants were encouraged to see their stories, experiences, and perspectives as valuable contributions to conversations happening in their communities.
The webinar highlighted an important reality, that is, not every voice is heard equally.
Participants reflected on how factors such as gender, background, geography, and social status often shape who gets access to spaces where decisions are made. The discussion encouraged young leaders not only to strengthen their own voices but also to create space for others whose perspectives are often overlooked.
In this way, communication becomes more than a personal skill and instead a tool for inclusion.
By the end of the session, participants left with practical insights on how to communicate more confidently and intentionally in their schools, communities, and advocacy work.
Through initiatives like this, InspireChange International continues to invest in young people who are ready to speak up, share ideas, and contribute to building more inclusive and responsive societies.
